About CAPS Presenters:

Patricia Cathers, LMSW, Director of Program and Volunteer Services, is the primary author and researcher of CAPS’ child abuse and child safety workshops and curricula, and trains K-12 school personnel on youth violence prevention, bully prevention and intervention, and other child safety topics.  She is a member of the Professional Development workgroup for the NYS Dignity Act. As an expert in the field, she has been interviewed by local and network radio and television stations, the NY Times, and Newsday.  She is a W. Burghart Turner Fellow at SUNY alumna at Stony Brook, and worked for the Nassau County Department of Social Services, specializing in child welfare, prior to joining CAPS.

Kara Santucci, MS is CAPS’ Bully Prevention Specialist and a certified Olweus Bully Prevention Trainer.  She holds a masters in school counseling and has worked at the high school and college level. She also has experience working with early intervention pre-school children and their families. A CAPS speaker for more than 10 years, she also teaches the NYS Mandated Course on Child Abuse and the Schools Against Violence in Education.
