Educators: Become Members of CAPS & Reap the Benefits in your 2017-2018 School Year! And read our Educator’s Newsletter

Welcome back!  Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) has been busy this summer preparing for the new school year.  We look forward to working with you on bully prevention and other child safety issues in the coming months.

Effective July 1, 2016, CAPS requires all schools to join with a CAPS MEMBERSHIP to benefit from our programs and services. Your CAPS MEMBERSHIP provides you with access and priority choice of dates for our CAPS “Prevention through Education” classroom programs in your school. We are now scheduling our Steer Clear of Bullies™ bully prevention workshops for 3rd and 4th grade students, as well as our Step Up and Speak Out™ bully prevention program for 6th and 7th grade middle school students. A complete menu of our “Prevention through Education” programs for students K-12 is listed on the calendar.

Furthermore, CAPS MEMBERSHIP includes one free registration to our Dignity Act Coordinator Update Training to be held on September 26, 2017 (a $100 value).  Keep in mind that CAPS continues to work with schools across Long Island on implementing The Dignity Act, as well as preventing bullying in elementary and secondary schools. We offer professional development for educators, support personnel, administrators and para-professionals and are certified to present the 6-hour certification course now required by NYSED on bullying, harassment, and discrimination.

We look forward to working with you in the coming school year to keep every child safe from harm.

 All the best,

Alane Fagin, Executive Director
